Literacy & Dyslexia Services

Making learning an adventure for everyone.

WHAT IS DYSLEXIA?

Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability. Dyslexia refers to a cluster of symptoms, which result in people having difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words. Dyslexia affects individuals throughout their lives; however, its impact can change at different stages in a person's life.

The adventurer Advantage

I believe that learning should be fun for everyone and that’s why I created The Brain Adventurer.

My name is Marcy Wilson and I invite you and your learner to come on a brain adventure with me! As a licensed dyslexia therapist, I specialize in evidence-based instruction for students with literacy delays and dyslexia. I provide instruction via Zoom or In-Home sessions, whichever works better for you and your family. I provide resources for both parents and educators. I offer consultations or professional development training for teachers who want tools for their own classrooms.

Not sure where to start? That’s ok! Feel free to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation to see how I can support you and your learners.

Passion fuels growth

We provide services for students, parents, and teachers. No matter where you are on your literacy journey, we have resources to support you and your learner. The Brain Adventurer offers a research-based curriculum with direct instruction using a multi-sensory approach. Parents and teachers can schedule consultations or coaching sessions for an introduction to literacy and dyslexia. Professional development includes learning strategies, data tracking, and lesson planning.

You’re not alone. We’re here to help.

“We have absolutely loved having Marcy help with our son.  Our son is dyslexic and has confidence and anxiety issues.  Ever since Marcy has started working with him, his reading and comprehension has improved significantly. She has helped him to become so much more confident in his reading and it has been such a joy to hear him read (unprompted) directions and items he comes across in everyday life. He laughs so much with her and truly enjoys their sessions.  We look forward to having her start with our younger son over the summer.”
